Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Pics
Great job, thanks for the update. We are on day 50 and mine sounded not to long ago,I will do the same for mine.
Looks like Egg A went to sleep, it was poking at the bit of broken shell for awhile this morning then quieted down. Maybe it'll have a go at getting out when it wakes up.
I broke down and drilled a hole for Egg B this morning too, really is surprising how hard the shell is, even with that carbide end mill it took a couple minutes. It'd been 4 days since it sounded so it seemed like a good idea to give it some air.

I'm beginning to wonder if Egg B is malpositioned in the egg, even with a hole in the large end the chirping seems to be coming from the pointed end. But it doesn't seem to be in imminent danger, it's still chirping and able to breathe so we'll see if it's able to hatch on it's own in the next couple days.

Did you wet the membrane? Are able to see the beak? Also what temperature did you use?

is that one a football shaped egg?.. if so they are prone to malpositioned chicks

yeah the shells are really hard.. I've carved them before which is why I am hesitant to use a motorized drill.. it's easy to add too much pressure and before you know it you're through the inner part of the shell

I just drilled a hole about the size of a pencil and put it back in the incubator this morning, inside I can see a pale white membrane close to the shell but no obvious features or discoloration on what little I can see. I had the temperature at 97.5 for most of the incubation, but it would get up to 97.7 in the evenings for the last two weeks.

Actually my football egg is the one that pipped on it's own, in fact it's casually working on breaking off some more shell right now, almost able to stick it's beak out of the hole it's made but for the most part it's having a rest. The one I poked a hole in this morning is shaped like what you'd expect an egg to be shaped like, with a clearly visible round and pointed end.

I am thinking if the membrane is so high up and not on the chick that would mean that he is not ready to hatch yet. I have read that the membrane should cover the chick before the hatch. But it would guarantee the oxygen supply. Have you tried to moisten it? This way you should be able to see through is and possibly see the blood vessels

Egg B, the one that hasn't pipped yet sounded Monday morning, while Egg A which did pip on it's own sounded Monday night then they both sat until Wednesday when Egg A pipped after I whistled to it. In Egg A the membrane has really drawn down onto the chick as you can see in the picture and even before that Egg A was much noisier with the 'wet paper bag' sound.

Should I just use an eyedropper and add a drop of water in through the hole to have a look? I'm happy to just wait and see what it does for now, I certainly wasn't expecting them to pip and hatch at the exact same time, I just poked the small hole this morning as a precaution because it had been 4 days since the egg sounded with no external pip, the other one pipped on it's own last night.

I would take a moisten q tip or perhaps eyedropper would me fine to
