Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Pics
You have the same termometer problem like me!!!!

i did was putting all between the ideal range 95 and 97.5 it worked for me until last night I do not know what happened, but my temp raised to 110

so maybe by now I have boiled emu eggs... I will try to keep on working withthem as the fluctuation was from 12 am to 8 am, so maybe a chance but the eggs where really hot... The only change I got there was thatI added a fan to the incubator. Does anyone has suffer from these and still hatch? I know that temps over 100 kills the embrio and fluctuations too,,,, im so dissapointed after all these days... I just order 4 more eggs just in case...

it all depends on how long they were at that temperature.. if for only a short time and the shells were just hot you may be ok.. but if the internal temp hit too high it would have cooked them.

weigh in for 4 eggs:

On February 8, (day 14) 585 (14 g lost or 2.34%)

Well it was about 6 hours, so maybe its too late for my buddies

so anyway I hope to still try to hatch them. I think what make this horror was the fan. lets see, now the temp is correct again

I moved my little guy out of the incubator and into the brooder. I'm still a bit nervouse he seems much more wobley than I remember.

Hopefully some of these other ones will hatch soon so I can have something to compare him to.

I moved the camera to stay on him. Let me know what you would preffer watching eggs or the chick(s).

I have another egg that is peeping so I have moved the camera back to the eggs so I can watch without going to the basement every 10 minnutes.

The other 3 eggs that were part of this batch don't seem to be doing much.

I'm anxious for another to hatch so the first has a buddy.

I also moved the rest of the eggs into the Dickey I picked up yesterday. It seems to be holding temp rock solid.

1 down 26 to go...

well, the little giant incubator, i finally think that someone touch the temperature button

as I have another one that was set aside to this one, because at the beguinning of the incubating I got the 2 working not modified, I modified one and move all the eggs to that one, but has the other working too without eggs, I switched them and was at the same temp, it wasnt damaged as I hatched a lot of chicks in there, i low the temp button and now is set... I will receive 4 more eggs next week.... A guy that lives like 3 hours from here sells emu babies so maybe I will buy a few from him, he gotostriches and rheas too

Anyway I want to have the experience to hatch at least one!!! myself...

Weighday:

Egg A
1/20 (Day 1) - 691.3 g
1/26 (Day 7) - 676.8 g (14.5 g/2.14%)
2/2 (Day 14) - 660.9 5 (15.9 g/4.59%)
2/9 (Day 21) - 647.6 g (13.3 g/2.05%)

Egg B
1/20 (Day 1) - 676.3 g
1/26 (Day 7) - 663.2 g (13.1 g/1.97%)
2/2 (Day 14) - 648.7 g (14.5 g/4.25%)
2/9 (Day 21) - 636.4 g (12.3 g/1.93%)

Figure I got the humidity right now as they're running more or less parallel with their projected weight loss, my hydrometer was definitely off by about 10-12%. If they keep on the same rate they have for the last 7 days they'll end up at 16 and 15% so I added another water container to the incubator to push them back up to their projected weight loss a bit, then I should be able to take that one out next weigh day and they'll be at 12-13% like they should be.

darn i never saw this response. ok heres my weights so far:
egg #1:
2-6 608g
2-7 605g
2-8 603g
2-9 601g
egg#2
2-6 500g
2-7 497g
2-8 496g
2-9 494g
egg#3
2-6 665g
2-7 662g

2-9 659g
egg#4
2-6 514g
2-7 511g
2-8 510g
2-9 508g

so do i need to ad water to my bator? seems like the weights on 2-8 (yesterday) were good cause they only lost 1 gram. now today they were down 2 again.. prob too much right? yikes i need to adjust fast..

if your scales are accurate then yeah.. that's hitting right around 25% weight loss for the first egg.. which is considered to be in the "danger zone"
30% for egg 2.. around 24% for egg 3.. and around 30% for egg 4 (just rough guesstimates since I didn't figure weight loss per hour.. but even at that it's well over the 15% you are aiming for)

looks like you need to add a little water and weigh the eggs again (weigh them before adding the water then 24 hours later)

MOST OF THE BATORS SHOULD RUN DRY IF THE HUMIDITY LEVELS ARE OVER 30%, MINES ARE 40% EVEN DRY, WHERE 51% BUT I ADDED RICE IN A SMALL PLATE AND IT WORKED. HOWS YOUR TEMP SO FAR, THIS AFFECT THE WEIGHTLOSS, YOU SHOULD CALCULATE THE TOTAL IDEAL WEIGHT LOSS FOR THE WHOLE INCUBATING PERIOD, DIVIDED BY 50 AND THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE THE IDEAL EXACT GRAM FOR EACH DAY FOR YOUR EGGS. TAKE THE FIRST WEIGHT, DIVIDED BY 15% THEN DISTRIBUTE IT EVENLY FOR THE 50 DAYS INCUBATION AND YOU GOT THE AMMOUNT, THEN PLAY WITH YOUR WATER, RUNNING DRY OR JUST A LITTLE BIT, ONE AT THE FORUM TOLD ME THAT EVEN ON THE DRYEST SITUATION THE WEIGHT LOSS WASNT GOING TO DROP TOO MUCH, HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU

not quite true... the location of the fan and amount of air flow plays a big part in how much moisture the eggs lose as well as the shell's porosity

in my LG the eggs are losing weight according to schedule.. the LG fan blows evenly across all the eggs..it sits NEXT to my Reptipro..

in the Reptipro the fan blows directly on the eggs (a stronger air flow) and was causing the eggs in it to lose moisture at a higher rate (hitting the danger zone)... both incubators are reading exactly the same for humidity.. so I have added a small container of water to the Reptipro to see if I can slow the weight loss

I did move some of the eggs from the Reptipro into the LG.. but as due date approaches I will have to move at least one egg back out to allow the hatching chicks a little more room to wiggle out of their shells
