i just came home to a blown light bulb and the incubator at 75* and 4 cold eggs. i was gone all day since i turned them this morning, no idea how long it was out, must have been a long time. gosh i am so upset, they were seeming to do so good with thier weights too

i doubt ill be able to get more, my boyfriend wasnt too happy about the cost of the 4 eggs i got, thought i was crazy

You're not giving up are you birdbrain? There's a chance they're still alive if they were developing! If it were me I'd keep incubating them like it never happened & hope for the best, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you & the lil boogers!

nope im not giving up yet, but im also keeping the mindset that i wont have any emu babies but i hope im wrong! all the eggs felt cold to the touch tho, and i thought if they were alive they would feel warm still? i have no idea how long they were cold, could have been allllll day.

egg "C" update:

I heard him peeping yesterday afternoon
at about 2 AM this morning he only had a crack in the shell.. the first pic was from around 6AM.. the last pic was from noon today

yup.. well.. 99% of the time.. occasionally you can have a chick that's peeping that hasn't internally pipped.. but usually it means they have broken through the membrane

On February 13 (day 34) saw wiggle in the egg!
On February 14 (day 35) 616 (14 g or 2.22%).. total lost so far: 65g 9.54%
On February 18 (day 39) started tap testing
On February 21 (day 42) 602 (14g or 2.72%) total lost so far 79g 11.60%

hatched out around 4PM on February 26th (day 47) chick weighed in at 475g (dry weight)
shell weighed in at 95 g 570g total (give or take a smidge for moisture loss)
