Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Polli you must be going crazy, I know I am for you!! If the 2 sound different, maybe they sounded? I've never heard it before so I'm not sure what it sounds like, did you tap it with something metal? I think that's what I heard you do, guess it makes sense...oh my gahhh I hope you get a chick I really do!!!!
Irine, I can't see your video links (if I'm even supposed to lol), do you mean they're on your YouTube channel? I definitely want to check them out, I'm going to go see...so how many eggs do you have left to hatch now?
Yinepu, you have 3, right? 2 due the M15th with one already pipped then one due in April?
I have three left that haven't hatched... one was due this past weekend.. it has never moved or sounded.. so I'm thinking it's a dud

one is due to hatch on the 15th.. i THOUGHT it wiggled once.. but it hasn't moved since.. hasn't sounded or peeped.. so i'll wait and see on it.. I'm thinking it's either a dud or a chick dead in the shell.. so I'll find out in a few days

the other is due to hatch on April 4th.. (my local egg) so it's due to wiggle this week if it has a live chick in it..
if it doesn't hatch I do have dibs on any chicks the male hatches out.. not sure how many eggs he's sitting on right now .. but last year he had 100% hatch rate.. I really hope it hatches since the parents are 19 years old and from a zoo in Louisiana ... so it's highly unlikely that they are related at all to the other chicks I have.. The woman who owns them has had them for 19 years and got them directly from the zoo when they were chicks ..
lol.. I doubt my husband would be in favor of buying another chick though since we do have 8 right now!

I never could figure out that tapping thing, or when they "sounded." I nearly gave up hope, until I saw one egg wiggle one day.

There is still hope! Don't give up!

I use a heavier metal drill bit.. it's nice and solid and gives the best sound of any other piece of metal I have tried yet...

when an egg is not ready to hatch it has a dull "THUNK" hollow sort of sound when you tap on it.. it seems to echo (or resonate) a teeny bit if you really listen to it

once an egg sounds the pitch changes altogether.. more of a higher pitch "TACK" sound that has no echo to it like the THUNK has

Hello Everyone :)
so cute!

egg E-1 hatched at midnight last night.. had to help him a teeny bit since he had his neck and shoulders out but he didn't make the hole big enough to get the rest of his fat lil body out.. since he decided to get his neck out there was no way he could turn around and break the shell with his beak.. (though I'm sure he could have if he had thought of it.. ).. I figured there was nothing wrong with him except for poor planning on his part.. so after watching him struggle for a few hours I decided to crack the remaining shell a little.. once i did he started kicking the heck out of the shell and finally broke free

I have one egg that is 51 days today. It has very small movement, so I opened up a hole last night and used qtip to moisten the membrane. I could not quite tell what I was seeing. I think it was a beak,or not? Looks like blood vessels are red,so he is not ready to come out. But I am thinking that he is to weak to make it on his own in any case. It's killing me just to sit and watch without intervening. I am thinking to make a larger opening and wait until the blood vessels subside and if he is still alive I will assist him out of the shell. If he has a chance he will survive if not- I've done all I could.

Heartbreaking

No he did not pip the membrane :(

well hopefully he was just resting.. sounds like he needs another day ..
in case you do need to assist and he still has unabsorbed yolk.. there is some info in the Emu Farmers Handbook on how to deal with it.. so you may want to look it up in case he runs into any problems.. seems to me (if I remember right) they advise to use something like neosporin on the yolk sack to keep it moist.. I would have to look it up to be sure...

just keep your fingers crossed that he's ok and keep an eye on him..
