Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

OMG I will get crazyyy!!! this is desesperating time for meee! Im away from home and coudnt tell if theres a baby or else!!! want a baby emuuuu,,, day 50 on 2 eggs and day 49 on 6 eggs, no wigglers no nos just one dull dunk and dink sound!!! as I cannot recognize sounds Im crazysoundedconfused... I bought a Dremmel just in case I have to drill a hole... ... hope to find the air sack ..... do you recommend me to wait until what day to drill, I know this has discuss before but wanna make sure! not to assit, to drill.... Thanks to all of you... pray for my emus! ah on the second batch still has 2 eggs, the other 2 ugggg are gone stinkerssssss

I still have 6 eggs in the incubator. One of them is 51 days and very weak. I will be monitoring him and if I must I will take him out

It's great so many of us are having such great luck & the couple that lost their babies or had duds, please try again! The more experience you get the better off you'll be & then shipped eggs are a gamble regardless of your experience level so next time might be perfect.
I can't believe tomorrow my egg's will be on day 40!!!! It feels like yesterday I drive to Ohio to pick them up & now they could hatch in a week! 4 out of 5 are wiggling like crazy with 1 being infertile. I guess thats not bad though because isn't it true that emu eggs average about 80% fertility? If so them that's what I got, 4/5 so 80%. Also for those that don't know these werent shipped eggs but picked up from a breeder. I hope so much that all 4 hatch, I am really worried about B, my extremely football shaped egg, I do know the aircell end so I think I might still a hole in it on day 47 or maybe later actually. If the chick is malpositioned, will it sound? I'm guessing it won't internally pip into the aircell with it being malpositioned?
Yinepu, how should I lift the aircell end higher & did I wait to long for it to help the chick? Wow I just can't believe I'm getting this close to their due date, & hopefully, their hatch date!

Thank you

Awesome Video! I heard them talking back to you, so cute!

Okay, prepare yourselves! I have a couple ideas that you will certainly be trying. Just use a regular sock and match the sizes. Now please use some self control and don't just go and grab your emus up and drag them over.

First off is the Sock Diaper:

Here's it on a chicken, but it fits an Emu Chick just fine!

Here's the pattern. Yellow indicates the front and the edge where the sock was cut off. You only need the toe part and the amount depends on Emu size. Red is the leg holes. You need two and you just cut two slits, one on each side. Blue is the neck hole. That is just a slit cut in the top of the sock. Green doesn't apply, as it is the hole for the chicken tail to fit through.

To put it on slip it over the emu's rear end and slide it forward toward the feet. Slip both legs into the coresponding holes. Stretch the neck hole over the emu's head. It should fall down to the front of the legs or if you prefer it can strap on the chest area. To keep it on, pinch the neck strap together until it is nice and tight around the emu and then clamp it with a hair pin or a staple.

Second we have the Emu Halter/Walking Harness:

Lead the Emu from the front since this is what you'll be doing when they are grown. Start now and you will have a harness trained adult that is easy to move from place to place.

Basically just the diaper without the back part on it. Two leg holes and a neck hole.

Oh my Sumatra, how cool & creative is that! I will definitely be trying them & if it wasn't for you sharing this I wouldn't have been able to let them lose out of the brooder as much, so thanks! I just lost my inside dog/cuddle buddy so I'm really looking forward to these lil boogers hatching. I got some good news today, one of the future homes for a pair of chicks are going out of town so I'll get to actually keep 2 of them (if they hatch of course) long enough to enjoy them. I'm keeping them for 3-5 days anyway to make sure they're all thriving & healthy before they leave my house though but the more time with them the better!

Im really surprised time has gone by as fast as it has, to me anyway. It doesn't seem that long ago I was watching this thread & posting on here before I even found where I was getting my eggs, then it was like 2 1/2 weeks before I picked them up & now I'm on day 40 with 4 wiggling eggs! It just doesn't seem like I've been a part of this thread for more than 2 months, well I'm very glad it has gone by as quick as it has. Of course this last week or so will feel like its taken longer than the past 3 months all together, oh that's for sure!

Just got 2 eggs in the mail today-

This is my first time to try incubating Emus.

I will be using the Genesis Hovabator, and I have adjusted the temp setting to 97 degrees, and the humidity is 20 percent. Is that ok? How long should I wait to put the eggs in the bator?

Thanks!

Welcome to the thread Farmerboy!!! Where did you order your eggs from? I usually let all my egg's settle for at least 12 hours but usually 24 hours. Also, do you plan in weighing your eggs during incubation? I hope your eggs develop & I'll be following this thread as long as someone has egg's in the bator so after mine hopefully hatch :)

Welcome :)
You will find a lot of useful info on this tread,we all learn as we go along the incubation process. With your incubator I would be carefull. I have 2 units 1588 and the temperature and humidity are both wrong. I am using another unit inside to ensure the accuracy. It is said that the humidity should be 30-35%
