Anyone up to set their eggs on Valentine's day with me?

OK so I'm not much of a picture guy, but I was able to snap a few that may be worth sharing.

Beans is very concerned about all the distressful peeping

Congratulations everyone on the pips and hatches.

Our final count is.......

33 eggs total (no candling for entire hatch) 78% hatch rate.

2 yolks
4 early quitters
1 died during pip
26 hatched

I set mine on the 14th around 6-7pm. I figured that today would be hatch day. I had some pips before I went to bed Saturday night, When I got up, I had some that had hatched, and the majority hatched all on Sunday. I had 8 eggs left over this morning and a very stinky smelling bator. So I assumed the rest were duds or early deaths.

I took the remaining eight eggs out this morning and went out side to open them to see what went wrong with them and wouldn't you know it, the first one I crack open.....starts peeping. Arrrgghh, I run in side and stick it in the bator, it hatched a bit later, but I think it just needed a few more hours because it has a bit of its *cord* left on it's little bum that is still absorbing. So it's in the bator sleeping. Funny though it hadn't pipped at all.

I did open the rest after and 2 had not developed, and 4 were definite early quitters, about day 10-15, and 1 had died during the pip, nothing I could see wrong with it, but sometimes it just happens.

These eggs (home-grown backyard mix) were my test hatch for my new incubator I won here in an auction. It's a Hovabator Genesis 1588 with the fan and pre-set temp. It's preset for a temp. of 100 and my accurite temp/humidity jobby read 100.2 for the whole hatch, so not sure why they hatched early. I'm very happy with the results especially because I didn't candle. I will post pics as soon as I load them on the computer.

Dunno if I said this in my last post but had 3 more serama hatch under my 2nd broody yesterday and the trampled egg chick is up and running around peeping up a storm and looks happy and healthy in the incubator.

Total number of eggs that went into lockdown under both broodys 14 and 10 hatched.

still waiting on three of my eggs that have done nothing... 8 others hatched yesterday, but none were "due" until tonight... so

that these babies were just in a cooler part of the bator!!!

I set a broody bantam hen with 10 banty eggs the night of Valentine's Day. The chicks started pipping yesterday afternoon, one hatched out by nightfall last night, and as of this afternoon there are 8 little fluffies in there with her. They look like little chenille Easter decorations. The last 2 eggs haven't pipped yet, can't hear anything in there. If they haven't hatched by tomorrow morning I'm going to take them out & bury them. If Mama hen takes her babes for an outing before then I'll remove the eggs at that time.

I love the picture of the startled chick...I have so many of those pics of my own. hehehehe

Well, I have 2 little adorable Serama/OEGB babies:

I picked up 3 little, what I think are, mille fleur d'uccles at TSC just in case I had a single baby hatch:

So, the bator is cleaned and heating up again to reload for a new hatch. Woot!
