This is a 20% protein pelleted feed from Southern States. It contains animal and plant protein.

I'm thinking about switching to it from Flock Raiser for everyone and supplementing with oyster shell for the layers. I like it because of the animal protein and because it is a pellet (less waste). As a bonus it is also a couple of bucks cheaper.

I realize you posted this last year, but my local SS just started carrying it so I bought some. Just mixed a little in with their other food to see how they will adjust to it. Have you been using it and if so do you like it?

Yes, I've used it on and off for years. Bought some this afternoon, in fact. It can be used as a grower feed after five weeks of age and that is its purpose for me now. I'll be moving a broody and youngsters into the old ladies' coop and all will be eating Rockin Rooster Booster till the youngsters are a bit older.

The pellets are very short and easy for bantams to eat. I paid $12.50, I think, for the 50# bag. It's definitely cheaper than Flock Raiser and is not medicated. They do not stock non-medicated Flock Raiser in my area, plus I try not to use vegetarian feeds unless I am forced to so the Rooster Booster pellets are the perfect "integration feed" for my flock when some are just too far from laying age, but have to go into the coop with the older ones. I think it's one of the better feeds for mixed groups.
