Anyone use vinyl strips over the pop door?

I'd like to try it but all I can find is the stuff with bumps on the back used for carpeting.

I have a catalogue from FarmTek that sells 6 in. strip of vinyl for putting over large openings.
I'm wondering if this would be way too heavy for a chicken to push aside (granted, I'd probably
cut the strips in half so that they'd be 3 in. strips instead)?

I'm not whole lot of help, but here's a thread where just such a door was discussed: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=402670&p=1 I'll bet it would work just cutting them down into thinner strips. Good luck!

I went to Lowe's and asked for the commercial vinyl baseboard strips. It works perfect and I think it was only like $5 for 6 ft. I have a hinged roof over the nesting boxes and I placed it over the that and it stopped all of my leaks. I hope that helps.

I went to JoAnn Fabrics and bought clear vinyl from the home dec fabric section. They have several different weights and cut into strips it works great!

I use neoprene floor mats. I cut them to size and one slit down the middle. They have enough weight to hang well and are not brittle in the cold.
I just lift one side up until the chickens get the idea of the whole thing.

I use heavy translucent-vinyl(?) shelf liner from Walmart. It is thick and heavy and ribbed. It works great, although I do install it progressively to new pens, to let them figure it out. (One strip this week, another strip next week, the final strip the next week, sort of thing)

I get the cheap, clear plastic car floor mats from Wal-mart, and cut them to fit the pop hole and slit it down the middle. It's great for keeping out cold drafts in winter and flies in summer. The chickens figure out how to navigate it pretty quickly.
