Anyone used forage cakes ??

They are selling thru McMurray & their website. I remember seeing a post about these on EZ BYC a long time ago.
Has anyone tired it with their flock?? Are they any good?

I'm hoping someone else posts an answer, Miriam, cuz I hadn't even heard of them, but it looks like an interesting idea. The only thing is the price, with my crazy flock that little block might last all of two minutes!

Hey mudhen !! I know it would go fast with my flock too.

Might be good for those cold,wet winter days, help keep them entertained. Does look like it has some good stuff in them.
I used to buy those seed bells, but found out real quick that my Buff Orps don't like to share.Those girls would stay there & guard it till it was gone.

Those look like the wild bird cakes usually sold with bird food. They also have feeders made to hold them.

Ingredients: Millet, cracked corn, hunter kibble (corn gluten meal, corn, soybean meal, linseed meal, catfish meal, dicalcium phosphate, crustacean meal, yeast culture, dried vegetables, HMS vitamin pre-mix, salt (NaCl), choline chloride, cinnamon and assorted spices, DE, primalac, lysine, selenium), oats, gelatin, tallow, dried cranberries, black sunflower seeds, zeolite, vegetable pomace, NRCS vitamin supplement

saw these in feed store, about the size of a cattle salt lick, didn't really notice the price because I've seen two threads both of them bad about them

Hey yall, yeah it's pricey. I don't think it's a replacement for the other feed you give your chickens, layer,starter feed etc.... just something extra.. cause my chickens are spoiled rotten.

They more than likely would get messy.I was thinking of hanging it in a wire basket or get the old man to make me a holder for it.

I would not my birds anything where I did not know the salt and calcium content of (and not an estimate but guaranteed analysis)
