Anyone used wood pallets to make your coops?

I have coops and other things that are made from pallets. I would say 95% of things at my place are made from pallets and 5% is made from recycled lumber. I have never spent money on buying new lumber. Although it takes a little effort to find pallets and get them apart, it's worth it. You can do anything with pallets.

If you are wanting to use pallets, then I would encourage you to do try it. You won't be sorry and you won't have to spend your hard earned money and buy lumber. Keep that money in your pocket for something else. ;)

Here are a few pics of coops and other things made from pallets so you can see the things that are built at my place.

Amazing!!! I HAVE to make one of those portable nesting boxes!!

Thank you! The portable nesting boxes are my favorite. I can take them out, clean them out and put them right back where they were or in another location. As opposed to them being permanently tacked, mounted to or nailed to the wall. We are about to make a few more and they will be a row of about 4 - 6 nesting boxes each. I have some crazy birds (chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys) and they will tell ME where they want to lay eggs. So when I find their "new" egg laying spot, I take one of the portable nesting box and move to that location and they don't take any time using the portable nesting box.

Beautiful work and ideas! I need to make a nesting box or two also. Right now I have a hen who lays her eggs in a cardboard box. She doesn't seem to mind, but she needs something better. I like the large animal feeders too. Lots of great ideas!

Like the coop above looks similar to mine so we know you have good taste lol :) good work

How are ya'll getting the pallets apart so easy??? I don't use power tools so u got me there. I'm working on a bachelor coop for my roo, 42"×42" pallets. Basically a square with pop hole, roost and waterer inside to try to keep it from freezing. 8 or 10 penny nails are bending like crazy when i try to nail a pallet down! That wood is extra hard so if i ever get the right kind of nails i know the coop will stand forever! Great pics.

here is my coop built out of pallets and recycled 2x4 welded wire from the garden. Had to buy hinges and some screws- total investment: $14.00. It now has a proper nesting box with 2 boxes where the shutters are in the pic. Footprint is 4' wide x 8' long
