Anyone used wood pallets to make your coops?

I'm about to add another level to my coop, as-is it is only 4 ft' x 4 ft' (at most) and I want to have a flock of 8 chickens, with 4 sq ft' per chicken
I'll be good with 2 levels and they'll have a little extra space to run about the coop without being too cramped.

Originally I put 10" Tires/wheels on the coop, I've since then removed them because they bow out with alot of weight on them.. So i'm having to figure out a new
axle system and having to place them elsewhere on the underside of the coop. Probably gonna pick up 2 more of these cheap Harbor Freight wheel/tires today and make it a
4 tire system with a pivoting set of tires on the side that you pull on.

Hate to rain on your parade, but for my chickens at least, planting grass is a total waste of time. Unless the coop is a chicken tractor, they will have the entire area cleared of green growth in a week. I thought of bringing in grass sod, for a little more established grass, no luck. The good news being, they Love dirt and sand for baths, grit, etc. I have bought a bale of fresh alfalfa and placed a couple of flakes in for greens, and they really appreciated that too. I also buy lettuce for them. Since I live in the woods, free ranging is out of the question, and I even place wire over the top of the runs to prevent predators, therefore I must supply the greens they love. I'll forward a pix of the completed coop, and pix of the one I'm currently working building.

Cool look froward to seeing pix but the grass area will be sectioned off under their coop and used to keep them in only while coop and run are being cleaned that way it encourages them to be in that area. Instead of chancing them getting out we have a few predators like fox bobcats and mountain lions.make sure u put a heavy coat of paint on the osb it will swell and fall off if it gets to wet
Thanks for the info

I only had time to build the door yesterday
400

it's 25 degrees today and I'm out of pallets so it might be a little while before I get started again :(

Yep, we're in a pretty good cold snap out my way too. Here's some of the pix I promised: First pix is the back of the coop, and the second the front with finished run.
These are my largest coop painted...(with a tarp for some protection from the rain we just had too.) I have painted mine camo...and will the others as well. I don't want to make them stand out in the woods.

This is the coop I'm presently working on:

The cinder block in the middle makes it look crooked, but it will be going soon. I just used it to level the coop floor while I stood up the pallets. My construction is different than yours in that I add the pallets whole, and then cover them with plywood or wire, where I need ventilation.

This is the roosting side of the big coop, and the nesting area is by the door. The inside is 4 feet, so possible to climb in if necessary, but I try to avoid that trick. I have placed rubber matting on the floor, so when it's time to clean it out, I just pull the mat out and hose it off.
Keep me posted on your progress.

Looking good started nesting boxes today ill post pic when done. Does anyone know a good size for them right now I've got them set at 15"Dx11"Hx11"W the opening is about 9"Hx11"W think that's large enough?
