Anyone using shredded paper for new chicks?

Don't forget...paper towels are compostable too!! Chicken poop, paper of any kind, shredded corn and/or cobbs, it all can be used in the pile! BOOYAH!

ALSO, I only had one who had "Pasty Butt" and after a few days, it was fine. I would so use newspaper again!

I didn't use shredded paper with my chicks, but I use it in the barn with my chickens. It works great and they love it when I put fresh down. They can't wait to get it all spread out.

I also use rubber shelf liner. It is easy to keep clean. Plus they can't eat it, but they can peck around at it. The best part is it helps their legs develop without splaying out. I get it at the dollar stores.

I usually have about 30 -35 in the brooder at one time and I know all they do is eat and poop and cause dander dust all over

I brood my chicks in the house for the first month and all I use is shredded newspaper and I've never had any chicks die because they ate it. I do change it every day and as they get bigger I do it twice a day.
