After 24 hours from pip and 12 hours from zip, I could tell the membrane had pulled away from the shell and was sucked up around him. So, I went in and chipped off the extra pieces of shell and he came right out. Now he's in the bator with a shell piece stuck to his back like a turtle!! I hope I didn't interfere too much, but with only 4 eggs, it's hard not to.

ETA: How long will he be ok in the bator? Would he be ok til I get home from work late tomorrow afternoon?

Min e are due on Tuesday - I hope they are OK. I had 9 ameraucana eggs in there with them and 8 of them suddenly died off. The pheasant eggs still have live embryos though (from the few I candled). I also have 4 Iowa Blue eggs in there that still look good. I guess I will find out on Tuesday...

I'm jealous!! I only had the one RG hatch and I ended up losing him. I've been using a LG, but based on others' suggestions, I'm not going to incubate any more til I can get a better incubator. I've got a broody hen I'm going to put the next batch under. See if she can do a better job than me!!

Really?? That sounds hopeful. I'm looking for an old mini fridge to convert into an incubator. Of course, then I figure, go big or go home...
