I got a brown layer assortment. So far they're all doing well! There's one I want to keep an eye on. seems slightly more lethargic than the rest. Can you even tell at this age what they are? I'm pretty sure I know what two of them are - like the one in the upper right hand. I have three light/buffs, 6 dark like the bottom right, and 3-4 like the ones on the two on the left. Anyone see anything that pinpoints one in particular? I'll try to get some better pics individually, but I want to let them settle for a bit.

Thanks! I was thinking Partridge rock for some? But those stripes down the back, they look like sussex? or the Golden wyandotte? I'm kinda hoping the three light colored ones are Buff orps. I used to have those and loved them. The dark ones I really can't figure out. Australorp? Dominique? Barred rock? Black Jersey Giant? They all look the same to me as chicks!

the dominiques and barred rocks will have white spots on their heads, doms have rose combs, rocks single combs
giants and 'lorps look alike when little.

I'm thinking maybe dominiques or barred rocks, then? Do the australorps ever have white spots on their head. 2 especially look so much like them, but they have a small light spot on the way back of their head.

Do the colors of the beaks/legs ever tell the difference?

I think I might have a bunch of different ones? I've been comparing pics of chicks online to them all - especially as their little feathers start to grow in...

I think I might have 4 dominique, 2 barred rock, 3 buff orps, 2 partridge plymouth rocks, 3 golden laced wyandottes... and then there's the one left... she's a really pretty red color... but darker than any of the "red"s that I can find... can't figure her out!!!

Looks like either a RIR or buckeye, buckeyes have pea combs.

kyflock, I was just wondering how these guys are feathering out and if you have an update?

Just yesterday I was thinking I need to take more pics of them all and come back for help. I think I might be more confused than before! I'll try to take pics today or tomorrow and check in with you. There are 3 that feathered in very differently than I thought they would. They're the smallest three, very dark, and have very very small combs.

Okay - as ridiculous as it is that it took me 3 months to get some pictures... Oh well! But they're finally grown enough to really try to figure it out. They're all doing well! It was a shady day so hard to get pics of them all... but here's some I'm curious what other people think... I'm thinkin the first pic is barred plymouth rock. I have 4. The second and third picture are the ones I'm really curious about. I can't figure it out! The second's neck seriously looks blue in the right light... And the third pic? I also have some orps and 1 lonely RIR... :)

I have 4 like this:

I have 2 like this: I was worried roo b/c of the coloring when it started... ?? Wyandotte?

Alright these I REALLY don't know. They're smaller than the rest, no combs yet, I have 3... The best I can figure so far is buckeye or Australorp?

I have 2 similar to the second pic... but the neck's not as blue... :)

Thanks so any with ideas! :)
