I have some new members to my flock. This year I decided I wanted to add some silkies which I have never had before. Long story short I'm curious to see what colors they will turn into. The reason I say this is because of the 3 one looks more white even slightly silver to the other two. While the others look white but have patches of buff down feathers. Does anyone have insight on this?

My buffs were a darker orange, but it could have also been because they were from a breeder. I would guess they are likely just whites as those are most common, but buffs aren't out of the possibilities, although it'll be more clear in a week or few :)

🤞 I'm hoping one turns out to be buff. But they are all still so cute no matter the color.

My guess would be that the redish looking ones are gold based, while the other is silver based. They'll probably all be white, but the silver one will have a more pure white undertone, while the other two will likely have a more warm white undertone. I highly doubt any will feather out buff. Buff/red leakage maybe, depending on the color quality of the parents, but they'll likely be mostly white.

Thanks for the information. I guess time will tell. If that is the case it looks like a before, during, and after version of washing a dirty chick. 😄
