Thanks, Elaine! That is really helpful. My husband and I sat down the other night and looked at both groups (lavender ameracauna and favaucana). I can really see the difference in what I believe are the boys and girls. I am nervous that out of 4 of the lavenders that I might actually have 3 that are boys. :-( Two are almost definitely boys, and one is definitely a girl, but the last one has feathers half way between the 2 groups, but tends to walk tall with head up. So, am afraid that might be a roo. The favaucana's seem to be running about 50/50 out of 6.
We decided to band the ones we thought were boys to see how good we are at this feather rate sexing thing. Thanks for all the info. It is really helpful to us newbies!
