Anyone watching/listening to the news?

This is a hand out to the New York Banking Elite. The banks won't lend to eachother because the DON"T TRUST eachother. That's what this is all about.

Put the money into all the pension and retirement accounts that went broke. We need to bail out the PEOPLE who lost their life savings here.....NOT the BANKS.

There' s no bill passed yet and yet the dollar stabilized further today. Tells me we don't need a BANKING bailout!!

Ten Reasons Not to Bailout Wall St.

My Favorite is #8

(8) The bail-out drains the real economy, rather than invests in the real economy.

The US economy can’t be productive or grow if consumers don’t have jobs and can’t afford to purchase goods and services. Real stimulation of Main Street is accomplished through productive investment, not bail-outs that shift money to unproductive sectors. We should use all of our precious resources to reinvest in our people in the real economy.

Well I did some calling today.

I called Senator Bark Stupek and informed him in a detailed message that if he backs this bailout then I am not voting for him this Nov. His young man was very nice and thanked me for calling. I also directed him to this board for this discussion. Hope he shows up.

I called Carl Levin's office asked if it was true that he voted yes on the bailout. His man said yes and I said well please inform him he lost my vote. Guy slammed the phone in my ear.

I called Debbie Stabinau's (know that is spelled wrong) office her lines are all busy. I heard she voted no but I am waiting to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak. If she voted yes then she has lost my vote as well (she runs next year I believe)

Call your senators people tell them how you feel and that you vote.

Just for clarification (because it can be confusing some times) . . . call your Representatives if you want to influence their vote tomorrow . . . call your Senators if you want to tell them your reaction to their recent vote.

Edited to add: Good for you Zookeeper9000 for stepping up and calling!

Conspiracy aficionados (though I am not one, just a speculative cynic <g>) might also ponder the possibility that McCain saw the writing on the wall during the summer and picked Palin as his runningmate *in order to NOT get elected* while avoiding the embarrassment of just pulling out of the race.

I can tell ya *I* sure wouldn't wanna be prez right now -- if you ask me, no matter who gets elected (even fringe independants) and no matter what happens in congress or wall street or the world or anywhere else, the next administration is already *screwed*. They will be hated by the public, and remembered badly by history, for the mere fact of having been in power during Bad Times that are largely beyond their immediate control anyhow.

Not that I really believe this (of McCain) altogether, but it is a tempting theory

I may be wrong here but I swear that i saw on the news that the government sent 30 billion to the foreign banks days ago. Thats in addition to the 700 billion. Its bad enough that we have to bail out American banks why do we have to bail out foreignors as well. Talk about foreignors owning part of America Its one of our admendments that we have ot vote on this year. They want to amend the state consitution to authorize or prohibit ownership, inheritance, disposition and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for citizenship. They call it a declaration of rights. i call it giving away our heritage.

The Fed is pumping the money into the credit markets (have had authority to do so for a while now), the European Central Bank pumped in 60 billion and the Bank of England another 30. Asia has also been active. The total is 180 billion so far (will continue to accelerate until we're satisfied with how much of our fat we'll fry).

The monstrosity of a bill from the Senate is not helpful (get a list of congress critters who earmarked this sucker and I'll bring the rope).
