ANYONE? What should a healthy crop feel like?

I have a chicken and I don't know if the crop is healthy or not,
I know this Is an old thread, but if anyone answers I am really interested.
Healthy crops are checked in the morning before they start cramming everything they can find down their gullet.

Morning, taken off the roost, should have a flat crop all but empty. If it's large or squishy you may have issues.

During the day I've had the full spectrum of crop consistencies. At night right before bed, my girls load up on oyster shell and grit, then as much feed as they can muster. Right after dark, they all have rock hard crops.
