Anyone with experience of Seramas?

Yes! what LilJoe said, price depends on if parents are show quality or pet quality. My seramas do not eat a lot. I believe I read somewhere that depending on how many birds you have, they can eat up to a pound of feed a month. The crow of the rooster depends on the individual roo, One of mine sounds like a small screech while the other is actually high pitched. Overall, a seramas crow is considerably much lower, I read somewhere that it is 1/3 of an actual crow of your average roo.

Serama are very small and should not be kept with standard size chickens, Otherwise you're risking their lives with being kept with large chickens.
A 50lb bag of feed for 3 Seramas will spoil before they finish it. I'd suggest getting smaller sized feed bags. Seramas are also very prone to frostbite and don't do well in cold temperatures so if it get's cold around where you live make sure they're coop is heated. Seramas will lay eggs as small as a nickle and tend to have the yolk missing in them due to their small size. The hens and cocks (Or at least the show quality kind) tend to drag their wings on the ground and get dirty a lot so if you are getting these to show you'd need a good bathing before a show. Besides all of this Seramas are just like any normal chicken but smaller.

I have a very big flock of Seramas and they eat about a pound of feed each month per chicken. I love these little guys n gals. I actually have some of Jerry's flock from the original Malaysian Seramas. They do have tiny eggs, but I also have Japanese bantams and they have the same size egg, but Seramas don't lay as much. I have two that started laying and I only have one a week so far. I keep them in a large condo for chickens that has a/c for summer, heat for winter and all their toys, treats and of course all of my comfy things to enjoy their company every night. I have my chair, phone, computer and all the other amenities I need to relax and let them fly and sit on me. It is therapy for me and them. This is the rooster of Jerry's flock and they can crow very well, just not all the way through....lol

Very cute Seramas, Sounds like you have a good set-up for them as well. Mind me asking how long you've been breeding Seramas? I'm quite new to Seramas myself and started out with a pet quality breeding group of 6 hens and two breeding cocks. I'm looking to breed for quality. Now I don't mean to hijack this thread but if I were to separate 3 hens with one rooster and breed them for their poses which ones would you choose?

If you have any frizzled or other like that I would put of course the straight smooth coat rooster. The black goes great with pretty much all. The splash (depending on the color) i would put with a rooster similar. I have two blacks in with one of my splash and the wheaton with the other black for breeding. I can get back to you for any others once I get my breeding book out and see which others I can tell you about

Thank you for your time and advice! I don't have any frizzled or silkies at the moment.
Thanks again for replying.
