anyone with knowledge with preemie baby supplies (24 week gestation)

i've been in a couple c-sections with babies of that age, i know how tiny this baby must be. i can't think of anything small enough, but i am praying they baby does well

Depending on how long he stays in the NICU, he may outgrow the micro sizes before he's allowed to leave. Most of the time the boys had a tiny blanket for the few minutes they left the incubator, then back in with just a diaper and cap so the monitors etc could do thier jobs.

As an RN the baby wont be able to leave the hosp till its 4 pounds. And while in the hosp we all prefer to keep the baby in nothing but a diaper so clothing isn't an issue. With tubes in the nose and maybe mouth dont need anything for the baby to suck on. Once the baby is able to go home then will be able to use size 0. The only thing preemies need is sleepers once they get home really.. I will check to see what i can find out from the hosps in NFL morrow Many times hosp will sent to other hosps certain things that may be needed.

It's been nearly 10 years since I've had my baby girl who was a premie and my mom found the bottom up pj's in premie sizes at Babys R Us. My baby had a bili-blanket she had a large hose conected to her tummy with the bili-blanket that was wrapped around her and had to be plugged into the wall with this fairly big machine. It worked for us.

Babies R Us is probably the best source for micro preemie clothes as far as big box stores go. If you sew, things like an incubator quilt or a positioner that can carry Mom's scent might be nice. When my friend had a very tiny baby about the same size, I ordered clothes from Babies R Us for them. They only dressed her for holidays or photos when she was doing well, but they were able to use them.

I am a nurse too and I thought it was weird too that she was asking for soothers and clothing with openings for leads... but apparently this was on the OK'd list

my husbands neice had andrew at 26 weeks he was 2lbs 6 ounces. andrew is now a thriving 12 lbs at 5 months old. it was a long while he was in the nicu.
the baby will not be able to leave the hospital for at least i would say about 2 to 3 months. andrew had to be able to maintain his body heat, learn to drink form a bottle (he had many wires and a feeding tube) he also had to reach 5 lbs before he could leave. andrew still has ongoing care from therapists so he can be try to maintain a steady rate of development.
all premies are different but the best advice i can give is to limit visitors and the parents to spend as much time as possible with the baby and the hospital staff so they become comfortable with caring for the baby. its a scary time premies have so many ups and downs. if the hospital does offer a parent support group i strongly urge the babys parents to attend the meetings
