I have three stories, one old, one...a little less old, and one from college.
Story One:
DH's Great Grandfather, James Hoskins, lived in Georgetown Colorado in the 1880's. Hard times, I suppose, but he committed suicide. After that, his wive saw his hand on the 2nd story window at night trying to get in. Every time the family visits Alvarado cemetary, we have to visit his gravestone. He's a trickster, though, because he has visited us when we're out on vacation (we live in IL.) He tries to do some damage. This year, when our 3 DD's were out in August he pushed the accelerator and damaged the bumper on the truck! There's a man who has bought and is renovating the little yellow house. He hasn't seen the ghost, BUT, he never spends the night there.
Story Two:
Shortly after DH and I got together we moved into a student rental house that he owned/managed for the summer. This was a 100 year old building, subdivided with 3 apartment units, one per floor. We spent the summer of 1979, on the ground floor. This had once been someone's house and there were a few steps that led up to the porch, with a screen door in front of the front door to enter, a full flight of stairs that switched directions to the 2nd floor, on which there were 3 doors that opened into the hallway. (The last door was a full flight straight up to a studio apartment, but had nothing to do with out encounter.)
Anyway, we installed a new deadbolt on the front door, and only the two of us had the keys. About a month after we moved in, I woke up in the middle of the night to hear someone open up the screen door, then it slammed shut. I heard the sound of footsteps walking up the stairs, then footsteps in the hallway, then footsteps in the 2nd story rooms. I poked DH, and said "DID YOU HEAR THAT?!?!?!?!?"
He had.
We tried to piece together what happened. The only thing that we knew for sure was that one of the 3 girls who had rented THAT apartment that Spring was bigtime into witchcraft and Quigee Boards. We sort of figured that some nasty spirit was looking for her, but didn't find her. Never came back....
Story Three:
We lived in a ranch style house for almost 20 years, before we bought the place we now live in. When we moved in there were these funny gold stickers in many places, that kind of resembled "Khrishna." There were 4 bedrooms--3 in the old part of the house, and one, larger master bedroom in the addition.
Each had a different color scheme. The "baby" room was off-white, the corner room was sky blue, the middle room was green, and the master bedroom was beige. Nobody had any problems sleeping or spending time in the baby room, or the blue bedroom. I had at least one dream of an evil spirit sitting on my chest in the master bedroom. BUT, my daughters had NUMEROUS bad dreams in that awful green bedroom.
After we moved into the 100 year old farmhouse (1999) I noticed that the 3 previous owners had crosses...EVERYWHERE. NONE of us has had a bad dream or a bad experience in this blessed house. That's why DH and I will never move.
