anyone with WildBlue Internet?

I have WB and it is the worst I have ever had. My contract is up and I check monthly for another venue to no avail. It cant be any better than what you have. Hang in there and things will get better before you die!!! I'm counting on it!

I have WB and have not had problems except in major thunderstorms (which we have quite often in Iowa) but it comes back after the storm passes. It's not as fast as my old DSL but because of where I live, WB or Hughes are the only choices. (dial-up too, but to me that's not a choice because of speed). I've had it since February 2008.

We have WB to and it is the worst! If and when it works it is pretty good, but, It doesn't work more then , it works. I was out for 4 and 1/2 hours today for the same reason, I guess. The so called tech support could not tell me why it was out ---- it was just ----out! I have one web site that I truly like and it seems like at least once every 5 to 6 weeks I can not get that site for a solid 7 to9 days and the folks on that site, who have wb also go out and we all stay out and come back on at the same time, so it IS a wild blue issue. I will not renew our contract when it is up again.

where are you at in Ohio? we're at the highest point in the state, in champaign county. no trees anywhere near my home. yet hughes always says a tree is blocking it. yup, those trees sprout up out of nowhere and instantly are like 30ft tall.

I know this may sound crazy but check with your electric company. 1 Month after paying HUGE $$$ for our Hughes set up I found out the the co op where I live was starting service. I usually do not have too much trouble with modem just very very slow downloads (dail up slow) in the afternoons. However I definitely do not get the speed I pay for. Most of my problems are when there is bad weather in Maryland something about the satelittle however I would love to be able to understnad the customer service when I call usually just make my husband. and be very very careful using 3rd party for install the 3rd party I used lied out his ..... took credit card info when I paid cash and then said Hughes forces them to to verify , then said hughes only does auto pay, another lie ( I have called hughes over this, when I called to gripe. I do know at the time we purchased Wild Blue was not setting up anymore accounts then due to they needed more satelittle feed before, obviously they now have it but for how many people? also MS BIT does very rural areas don't have too much info about that. I live 250 feet from the DSL cutoff.

We have had Wildblue going on 2 years now. The first six months were rough; had some equipment failure.

Since then things have been going pretty smoothly, knock wood! We too purchased the equipment so if anything goes out we have to pay and service calls are expensive! We are on solar power and so turn off all equipment when not in use to save energy. When we first got the service, it could take up to 20 minutes to boot up.

Now, it only takes about a minute. The only outages we've had are during major thunderstorms and last winter during heavy snow. Over all, I'm as satisfied with this service as any I've had before.

My sister has wild blue at her home, has had it for like 3 years, and I do all of her networking, etc. at her house, it has not had any major problems, I mean they do lose service on occasion during a bad storm, but they lost their sattelite tv at that time as well. It is not a bad system, if it is your only alternative!! I work in IT tech support, and it is working for the VPN I set up for them, with no extravagant equipment!!

We're just outside of Coshocton. We live on a hill and have no trees blocking the dish. It just seems to dislike us! I think its the air in Ohio that the satellites have trouble with! LOL

We live in SW Washington state, where it rains a LOT! (Washington, we don't tan, we rust!

) We've had WB for over a year and rarely have outages. We did have a problem and it turned out to be the tree....as in the thingymabob that sticks out from the dish. We've had no problems since that was repaired.

We have Wild Blue. VOIP cannot be used with it in the US, unlike other I-net services. The local folks who service us--and we've seen them a lot--are very nice. However, the corporate Wild Blue customer service really sucks. Before we had even received our equipment, we called because they spelled my husband's name wrong on the bill for service (it's one of those that has several common spellings, like Geoffrey and Jeffrey). In order to get them to spell it correctly, they wanted us to fax them a birth certificate and jump through hoops because we were "changing the name on the account."

We weren't changing the name on the account; we were wanting to correct the spelling to be sure the bills got here. They told us we shouldn't have signed up under a false name. When I wanted to switch to a different company, they threatened to charge us a $100 cancellation fee EVEN THOUGH WE HAD NOT RECEIVED ONE MINUTE OF SERVICE OR ANY EQUIPMENT OR A SINGLE VISIT.

I tell everyone this story. I told the folks at Wild Blue I would. Don't go with Wild Blue; they're really, really rotten (on many issues, I could go on) even though your local repair people may be nice.
