I had a spike of active layers mid-January and I was getting over a dozen a day. Now I'm down to ~6/day ever since we had that cold snap. Of course it doesn't help that I sold 3 of the girls that were laying fairly consistently. Add to that a mite problem (hopefully mostly resolved, will be treating once more over the weekend) and it's no wonder I'm getting only a handful a day!
Weather is finally bearable and I'm hoping the flock starts getting out and about once it warms up a bit. Waiting for that big thaw so they can get back to foraging and dust bathing. I'm gonna have to do some more note taking in the mean time and assess some of the birds who got frostbite. Nothing I can do for them now but I can take notes and see who isn't all that cold hardy and add them to the cull list.
