Anyone witha duck that's had a broken leg please help

Hi all.
Today when I got home from work I noticed one of my ducks had a slightly bloody wing and a major limp. From the looks of it the dogs were a little too playful with the ducks.
I've checked out the ducks wings and it just seems to be mass removal of feathers that has created the bleeding. I felt up and down the ducks leg and I noticed a bit of swelling around the bigger joint in the leg and a popping/clicking like noise each time it would bend it. He tries to walk on it but can maybe manage a step or two before he has to lay down again.
I was wondering if anyone on here might be able to give me an idea of what's happened to his leg/what I should do about it.

Sounds like a break.

I would get the duck to a vet if at all possible.

Here is something I posted a while back for someone else with such an injury

I would try the sling option. Something like a baby's indoor swing, that may let her legs just barely touch the ground. At night she might be allowed to rest with the flock, and she could have meal and water breaks, and some swim time which would also help.

I wonder if there is a supplement that might strengthen the area also.

See if half days in the sling is enough rest. If you make a gap in the rear, she can poop on papers or something underneath.

And I know this would be some work, but it might be enjoyable. It's almost as if she needs one of those braces that athletes wear. Could you try making a brace, with a stiff but flexible shaft that could be attached to the leg? I am trying to think of what you could make into such a shaft. Some plastic hair pins may be like that.

And please never leave dogs and ducks unattended. Dogs are way to rough for ducks even if playing, I hope you can help your duck, just try not to let it use the leg much while healing may do more damage to it, with a break a vet would be best.
