Lsky, you really should type out a post on how to draw people... Or at least PM it to this poor soul.

Horses are much more up my alley.

Lol, I'm still learning myself. You could draw a grid on the photo, then a grid on the paper. I started doing that a few years ago and it improved my drawing hugely, now I just start with a circle. Put some rough lines where the nose, eyes and mouth should be, a faint line for the jaw, then just build it up from there. Or draw the eye sockets in roughly, helps you to know where to put the brow, eyeball, temple etc...
