The head and neck of a Quetzalcoatl cane head I made. It never got cast, it's still in wax. This is also leftover spru wax from making bronzes.

I'm older than I seem, Lsky. I worked in 2 foundries in my 20s. Montana has a thriving tourist art scene. Almost all of the bronzes are cowboys, horses, elk, bison or cows, or scenes containing any number of other Western themes.

here is a bronze I worked on when I was a spruer. I didn't make the original clay model, but I was part of a long group that worked on this piece. The artist was one of the bronze welders, modeled to look like no particular race, specifically, and using his wife as a reference. I tried to angle it so I won't be in trouble. She is wearing a loin cloth.

Here's one I actually made. It's original image was a conglomerate of various spru waxes shaped together over several break times to create a dragon, then I sprued it up and had it cast as my Christmas present from the foundry. For Christmas, they would let us cast any one thing as long as the bronze used didn't exceed 300 dollars worth of metal.

Wow, beautiful work. :thumbsup

Oh, that's interesting. :) I saw your sons painting, do your children like art? I think I love art so much because my mother was always doing something artistic, and there was always a lot of materials and books around. I wonder how much is nurture and how much is nature when it comes to someone's creativity. What do you think?

My son and daughters that are old enough all love art. My mother is a natural artist as well, although she pursued veterinary medicine as her career. My kids are always bugging me to do something artsy fartsy with them.

We should rename this thread to the Artsy fartsy club :D

So do you think nurture has a lot to do with it?
