Duckling in photo:

fully hatched out 21 hours ago, pipped 28 hours ago.

Issues:
-flickers eyes, cannot keep open
-lifts head from time to time but cannot keep it up.
-kicks legs but cannot stand
-umbilical cord still attached (was attached to eggshell, followed instruction from youtube video and removed the egg shell from umbilical cord).

Pipped egg in photo:

Pipped 28 hours ago, same time as the hatched duckling. Has not progressed at all since 3pm yesterday.

Alright, try giving it eleocrilytes Water. Heres the recipe :)
  1. 1 cup warm water.
  2. 2 teaspoons molasses OR 2 teaspoons granulated sugar.
  3. 1/8 teaspoon salt.
  4. 1/8 teaspoon baking soda.
  5. 1/8 teaspoon potassium chloride* (optional)

Ps, some of it seems normal, like not holding his head up. But i am a bit concerned, ive seen this happen before and the chick / duck sadly didnt make it.

I think that was mainly for chicks, so try this one first.
  • 2 c. Warm Water.
  • 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar, Honey or Molasses (I prefer molasses)
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt.
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda. But if ut doesnt work you can do the other.

What were the instructions on the YouTube video?

Can you get a clear picture of its belly area?
Also did you have to assist getting it out of the egg or did it hatch on its own?

It said to cut the shell around the umbilical cord, while not touching the umbilical cord. There is no blood. the cord looks dry to me.

So what happened was, from what I'm told, it hatched out and the Mrs went in and removed the shell.

When to took the photo of the duck i used a flashlight and the egg began shaking pretty vigorously...
