anything to put in water

anything to put in the pool water to keep the algea down. i have to clorox it every other day to keep it clean. i dont want to put clorox in it with water for them to swin in because of the way they splash and drink it

bleach seems to be okay as long as you put it in when they are done with the pool for the night. The bleach will dissipate over night. We try to remember to throw in a cup of bleach after the ducks have used their pool, but our ducks don't use it every day.

I have used apple cider vinager and it seems to work OK. I also use it on my rabbits' water bottles.

Go to your local pet store and get a "barley ball" which is a ball of hay that release natural chemicals to stop algae from growing......it worked in my pond!

thanks for all the responses. i have decided to get rid of the kiddie pool and get a horse water trough. i will keep these post in mind as i have to use it in the water trough as well. thanks again
