I lost my favorite chicken the other day due to a possum attack. I am so sad. I do have some of her offspring I am hatching out and I just realized one is going to be frizzled. My dear sweet Autumn was a frizzle. (She is in my profile pic with me) SO is there anything I can do to insure I get another chicken friendly as she was? Or does it just happen sometimes?

mosts hens are freindly f you rais them and feed them and are nice to them to but if your mean they will attack you

I think some of their temperment is due to nature, some to nurture. I don't think there's a way to 100% insure a friendly chick, no matter how much you handle or treat them. Some are just more wary than others.

I do think you can do things that would make an otherwise friendly bird more wary, afraid & cautious around you, with any rough handling or mistreatment.

Most chickens will at least learn to appreciate you as a food & treat source. Many more will learn to tolerate handling & holding, and some will grow to enjoy it. I hope that's the case with your new frizzled friend.

I think it mostly has to do with breed, personally. I held my first ones all the time and they don't sit still for me now. They will let me pet them in the coop but outside I can't ever get close enough to touch them.
My cochins and frizzles never run from me, ever. My ameraucana are almost equally as friendly.....
sorry for your loss
