Totally agree with Pete. Will they give you references of past buyers? This is something we will be starting this year as we sell we will ask the buyers if they would mind being a reference in the future. I feel it's fair to other buyers to have past buyers thoughts.

Em that is an awesome Pic -I just set my first two seb eggs ever --XX fingers crossed -I Have only ever hatched Geese eggs once but I am hopeful !!Now to be greedy think I can get a pair out of two eggs lol I see though I was very lucky on the price of 25.00

Well anyhoo....here's my 2 cents..
Paying $300. for a yearling pair is not that unusual.
Kind of the going rate for decent birds but it's all very subjective.
While $300. for a pair might seem like a lot of money to pay for some people
keep in mind that does not mean these birds are going to be healthy, in good condition
or outstanding type and feather wise, nor that they will produce outstanding offspring.
Even champion stock can produce crap offspring.
If you just want some pets you could probably get some cheaper than that,
like for $50. - $100. each for pet quality.
Don't let the breeder's title sway you.
While this person might be Mr./Ms. Wonderful just because somebody is a Master Breeder
does not mean they're an ethical seller. Ask the seller 100 questions.
That in itself will weed out the people you shouldn't buy from. Ask for photos of the birds for sale
and their parents. What good is a photo of the seller's breeding stock they aren't selling?
If they say their camera is broken or they're too busy to take pictures or the birds are in poor
condition because it's been rainy, snowy, windy or muddy outside Caveat Emptor!
NEVER trust anybody's word and NEVER buy sight unseen.

Thanks, we have been really thinking it over. My husband thinks its a bit extreme since yes we could find them for cheaper. I did ask the seller a lot of questions, and one that stuck out to me is that he did tell me they aren't "pet" friendly they come for food but would rather you not touch them...

This is kind of a deal breaker since i would rather find 2 goslings that I can raise and be more friendly then that. I don't know yet, what we will do. I won't be getting the yearlings (if we decide to) for 3 weeks because we are working on their coop and the sellers out of town.

Will see.. but yes I will be looking at the birds and their condition before buying.

i bought three goslings from a local woman last year. She had purchased her geese from Holderread's when they were around 2 years old. She also said those geese were not "pet friendly". She was looking forward to raising some of their babies to be friendly, then selling the breeders. This may be what your seller is experiencing. Or, for those of you with years of experience, is temperament a trait that can be bred into geese?

Well it looks like we decided to get the pair! I am thrilled to get a pair of good birds. I feel confident in the purchase and the seller. We will be picking them up on the 15th of March (of course I will be seeing them before paying)! Now we just are working on the coop for them!!! Can't wait to get you guys some pictures of them! I am very excited to get my first pair of geese!
