“Oh, yeah. Well, I’m sorry, but this is what I was trained for. Well, not catching wolf-dogs, but obeying the humans.” He hung his head slightly. “I- I’ve never lived away from them. No one in my family has.”

“I’m not really sure,” Ani said slowly. “I know they do weird human tests on them in here, but they always disappear afterwards.” He eyed the lock. “But maybe…” He pushed the lower button up with his nose, and pushed the higher button down with his right paw- opening the cage successfully. “Hey, it worked!” He said.

I’m going to bed- goodnight!

Molly: will you not get in trouble for opening it??

“Maybe.” Ani said, peering around. The other dogs in the kennels were barking harder now that they saw Molly was out. “But I can’t just let them take you away, come on.” He limped toward the exit.

“What? Oh- my leg?” He said, looking down at it. “It’s- um, hard for me to say.” He looked away from her, hurrying to the front door and shadowing the buildings next to it as not to be seen. “It was when I had just started gaurd duty…”
