Wow ok! Thank you! I will do a search on the Seramas! I never heard of them! You have a photo? If you aren’t interested in eggs, Seramas are a wonderful choice. For big chickens, Orpingtons, austalorps, and Easter egger are good choices.
Ohhhhh that sounds reasonable! Will I have any problem later on introducing a rooster with the girls once I decide to?I agree with @ValerieJ if this is your first time owning chickens I might be good to wait a year or two before you take on a rooster. They're AWESOME, but they can be a real challenge during their hormonal teenaged phase.![]()
Buff orpingtons are some of my favorites! They are sweet, gentle lap birds that are great layers and just pretty birds.Yes! Orpingtons. I have Buff, Lavender and Australorps and with the exception of one particularly crabby BO, they are all good candidates for your purpose.
Lol thaa as no you! But great idea! I’ll wait then on rooster! I definitely want calm! And there’s only 3 of us so I don’t need a huge flock of chickens ! But I do love chickens! If this is your first flock, and you want peaceful, don't get a rooster. I say that, but I've never had a Faverolle, and maybe they are different. Just saying a rooster is a whole different level of complication.
You know I like to keep at least between 4-6 hens... i read you can always introduce more later.@ParadisedivaChic Faverolles are pretty mellow chickens. Even the roosters are docile in my experience.![]()
