Well my dad's done it again, he's sticking me with more birds...He's dropping off the coop on Wed. There are 10 ringneck doves and their coop. These aren't his and he's planning to sell them all and keep the coop for my broody hen. Smart really but the doves will be in my care for as long as it takes to rehome them. He is going to let me keep a couple of them if they can live with my broody bantam hen and her future chicks or if I can get a bird cage for them inside.

Basically I'd like to know the basics as I'll be caring for 10 of them in three days time. Thanks if you can help.

The best dove feed at the feed store you can get, I mix mine with "game bird breeder" if I'm breeding or "game bird maintenance" if not.

I free feed mine 24/7 but my coop is rodent exclusive (so far).

If you do not produce nesting material they usually (but not never) lay eggs.

Remove anyone with missing (picked) head feathers- it gets worse, that one is being bullied.

Fresh water to be available at all times and a bird bath if possible (I use those pink hospital pans half filled).

Also if you are in your own place (not dad's) and he's randomly dropping off animals make the animals 'disappear' (have a friend help out) immeadeatly and the next day say "They were left here in my care, it didn't work out, please never bring over any animals I don't specifically pick out in person. I am not a free animal sitter, nor a pet store. Thank you for understanding."
