Hi all,
I'm a newbie & this is my first time asking for help! I've been adding apple cider vinegar to my 2 week old chicks water since day 2. I have Nutri-drench coming today for a chick that's been "off" since day one. Can I add it to the acv water for all of them & if so how much & for how long? Same question with electrolytes, or are they even needed? The chick I'm concerned about is smaller than the other three, but is eating & drinking & her droppings look good. At times she doesn't join the other 3, & sleeps more than them. Other times she's just one of the girls! Any thoughts? Thanks

There are several types of nutri drench. If you purchased the poultry version then it's 1/4 oz per gallon of water.

I'd stop giving them apple cider vinegar. If it has the mother in it like Bragg's its good for chickens, people, etc but I'd not put it in the water for everyday.

Ok, thanks, EJ. Can I ask why not all text time? From lots of posts, I thought it was good for chicks, young & old. I did order the poultry Nutri-drench, btw, & the acv is Bragg's. Thanks

Maybe it's only my personnel preference. It has probiotics etc but is also an acid. I think of it as a booster and really only use it in the dead heat of summer adding it to one of the weeks 3 gallon water refills. ACV is used in fermented feeds and that's fed everyday but I am of the belief that there is nothing wrong with plain old water and just use it as a weekly booster. I do use a packet of vitamins and electrolytes for the first watering of newly hatched chciks. A perk 'em up thing so they feed well right away. The nutrients they need is in the feed.

Now I understand your position. The chick in question seems to be holding her own, so I may just "waIt & see". I don't want to jump in there if it's not needed. Or am I being too cautious with the Nutri-drench? Thanks for your help.
