Apple Cider Vinegar..Question

I'll be getting my baby chicks in a few weeks and have been reading about the addition of undiluted apple cider vinegar to their water.

Question: I've been unable to locate "undiluted" apple cider vinegar, but did find Heinz apple cider vinegar.

1. Can I use that type?
2. How much per QUART of water (that's the size of their waterer)?
3. When do I begin to add to their water?

You want to use only vinegar that contains "the mother" for the benifit. A great brand is Bragg. It will say it contains the mother on the front. The mother is where the vitamins and nutritional value is at.so I would look at the health food Isle and I'm sure you should be able to find the one with the mother in it. I don't use it daily but I will use it one week out of the month. I've read this is best as it won't make their system too acidic. You will use one table spoon per gallon of water. Thanks for the info...appreciate it! I live in such a rural area it'll be a 40 mile trip to shop for it. But I have time. From your 'measurements' I would probably only use 1/2 teaspoon then for a quart-sized waterer (?) And when did you start using it in their water...at what age?

I started using it at about a month old but some have started earlier. If you want to give them something that will greatly benifit them start them on a good probotic.it adds beneficial bacteria into their system and helps reduce the presence of bad bacteria once collinized. I have used probotics since mine were as young as two weeks old and I've not had a issue with pasty butt or dierhea since. I use it daily in their water. I order mine online from www.probios.com. It's called Probios.it comes in a jar and it lasts a good long time. I use a teaspoon per gallon of water. I found it a few years back when my babies started getting pasty butt. I used it and it had wonderful results. Now I use it for the whole flock babies and adult birds alike and it's been wonderful! Thank God I've not had any have dierhea since I've started using it. It provides much more beneficial bacteria than they can get from yougart and it's better for their system because it's non dairy. It comes pretty fast once ordered.its one product I won't do without. You might consider adding a probotics for your chicks. I think it will benifit them greatly. You can look up the benifit by Google searching probotics and poultry.
