Apple Cider Vinegar questions.

So, d'ya think I'm harming my birds by using plain old store label ACV? I didn't buy organic.... I will next time, if I can find some... but I wanted to at least START with something.

No, I don't think you are harming them- but it is the "mother" that contains the ingredients you want. Live cultures.

Have you ever tried it completely from scratch, with yeast and the whole bit? I did it recently and wasn't terribly excited with the results. I've been wondering if it was the yeast I used. I have been thinking about trying your method next but haven't found Bragg's.

Bragg's is most often carried in health food stores.

No, I have always used Bragg's to culture my vinegar.

I have some ACV but it's not organic, is that ok? my flock is 5 weeks old, should I start with a little and work up to ??? however much?

Thank You for this info, I had no idea. I was about to try it out, but my water containers are galvanized. What is the effect of putting it in galvanized waterers? Why is it bad?

Sorry- I didn't get back to this thread... The ACV will cause your waterer to rust very quickly.

ADozenGirls, love your avatar pic. I have Whole Foods Organic Unfiltered ACV and I have been putting 1tsp per quart. My babies are only 1 week old, so I hope it is not too early.
