Apple cider vinegar....why can't you use it in metal waterer

I'm hardly an expert, but most of the nipple pins I've seen are stainless steel.

I use ACV in ball-type rabbit waterers with no issues, and their stem is stainless.

Galvanized are usually the old fashioned founts and bases, or full size tanks, and is always mentioned in the description.

I started using ACV in the water this spring, when I thought I had a gape worm problem. They quit the weird yawn thing, whether it was sour crop or gape worm.

But...

I have noticed that I have a lot less flies so far and was wondering what the deal was. We've had such a wet spring that I expected them to be REALLY bad.
Will keep using the ACV in case that has something to do with it!!!

Does anyone worry about BPA in plastic waterers and it's possible effect on the chickens, or whether it can be passed on to the eggs? I can't find any studies or reports about it's effect on poultry, so maybe I'm just being paranoid. But I'm trying to get plastics out of my diet and life AND I'd like to be able to give ACV periodically to my chickens for their health. I guess I'll just start setting out shallow ceramic bowls with water and ACV periodically for the hens.

ACV is full of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. It helps to lower the pH level in the stomach, helping digestion and making it a less friendly for harmful pathogens. ACV detoxifies the blood and helps remove mucous from within the body, this is particularly useful since chickens are particularly prone to respiratory problems and ACV can be of benefit in helping birds to clear their airways.

Due to the acid content of ACV, it is an antiseptic. As well as killing germs, it is also a mild antibiotic as well, (that is, it contains bacteria that destroy infectious organisms).

We are talking about the raw, unfiltered sort of ACV here. Not the clear. filtered stuff in the grocery store. Use that clear stuff for cleaning pipes and drains and killing vegetation without endangering the chickens with weed killer.
