Actual studies that support benefits for ACV and/ or DE are pretty scarce! It's all about 'he said, she said', not real science.
I use the vinegar in cooking, and don't have DE on the farm.
BTW, there's this product at some groceries called 'apple cider flavored' vinegar. OMG!!!
Someone found a way to use less actual apple cider vinegar in the jug. Watch what you buy, why settle for 'pretend', adulterated, not straight apple cider vinegar?!

These days a person has to be cautious with every aspect of living. Stupid question-Why would vinegar be apple flavored? Has another study been done that shows apples are cancer causing?

If you choose to go ahead with the vinegar be sure not to use a galvanized waterer.

Yep. Everything I have is plastic, ceramic, and glass. I tossed all the galvanized on the garbage heap years ago when it was obvious plastic and glass were much easier to keep clean.

ACV has been shown to have numerous health benefits, that's why people do ACV shots, it is actually good for you, same goes for chickens. I just poor a little in the water every few days, no measured amounts, just what seems right.

I read an industry study a few weeks back that said daily ACV in water was better than other measures for preventing illness from parasites.

I’ve given the brags apple cider vinegar With electrolytes to my chicks once every week since one day old with lots of fresh water as well. They are healthy happy and thriving. I myself was able to cure my GERD and a multitude of GI issues with 1 tablespoons of ACV 2 x every day. I had been on Prilosec for years and still suffered. My GI Dr. Was amazed. GI completely healed and NO GERD no MEDS for last 2 yeara. If it can work for me, and studies I have read make sense for use in chickens. My mom always said “proof was in the eating of the pudding“. Drinking the ACV and living with the results and seeing my chicks healthy seems to be working so far . I do read not good to give everyday could effect their eggs. Good luck.

My chicks have always done fine here too, with plain water to drink.
And my Omeprazole dependence went away, after years, and hasn't returned. maybe it's the occasional chocolate cake including apple cider vinegar?

No real science seems to have been done with ACV, but then I started wondering, why people would continue using something if there were no benefits. It seems tome that the actual using and continues using is a experiment and study in itself; informally, but it works for me. Instead of just one day a week I think I'll go with a week on and a week off... If there's benefits I would think I'd see them in my flock.

Those are wise words and logical thinking. If it’s bunk info then why are so many people still using an age old product. And I’m blessed my chickens appear to be thriving. Their poop always looks good, an occasional runs when I give them too much watermelon or extreme heat. But quickly resolved. But I too am new and the experts here are great. Good luck.
