yeah it’ll be okayBut a buff drake would be okay, right? I’m not a fan of mallards and I’m not really sure where I could get a call duck haha

okay, good! i just placed the order this morning and i was able to add in a buff drake with no issue. usually i wouldn’t bother with drakes, but I was kind of wanting to hatch out my own ducklings at some pointyeah it’ll be okay
Yeah, that’s why I was debating on the run. Though, I currently have 4 pekins again ( all ended up being drakes ) and so far nothing has gotten them. I’m still around in the same area as I was a few years ago, just a house over. I think what I did wrong the first time was showing them where the pond was which was probably a 100ft walk across an open field for them. I live in the middle of nowhere, so I should’ve expected predators but I didn’t. They made it almost two years, but something ( thinking a pack of coyotes) took my two hens at the same time at 11am in broad daylight. Bobcat took one of my drakes at dusk while I was at college ( parents didn’t get home in time to shut them up in the duck house ) and my last duck was so lonely he didn’t want to leave the pond when the wild ducks were there. One night he decided to come back home but nobody was awake to put him to bed and a raccoon killed him in the yard as he was trying to get to the duck house.Congratulations on your new ducklings!
If predators got your first ducks they will likely get these ducks as well if you free range them. Your ducks will be safest with a predator proof run made from hardware cloth, in addition to their coop.
Since ducks are individuals no one can say for sure how the dynamics of drake/duck will work out. Only what will be more likely to work out. Good luck with your new additions.
if you have 4 drakes putting the pekin drake in with them will work the bestYeah, that’s why I was debating on the run. it was definitely my fault and I just didn’t think everything through.
That’s what I was going to do. They’ll have their own little boy quack shackif you have 4 drakes putting the pekin drake in with them will work the best
