Hi everyone!
I purchased two Sebastopol goslings a few months back and they’re about 6/7 months old now. I’m having an issue with shelter…
At night they’re in a fenced in run area with access to a large dog-igloo type house that’s bedded well with hay. I also have another covered area next to that for them to get out if the rain or sun. During the day they free range in my large backyard that’s also fenced in. At night I’ve been noticing that they won’t go into the igloo house, instead they sit out in the middle of the run. When the weather gets colder will they go into the igloo or do I need to reevaluate the shelter situation? I worry that they’ll get cold and won’t go in to get out of the weather come winter.
Any tips are appreciated!

I agree with what others have said. The igloo could be a great nest box for a goose in spring. Just make sure it can stay dry and not get rained in. If you have to pen them up in a shelter at night, you could make an improvised lean-to from pallet wood.

Someone mentioned wind block. That’s what they really want. Even a few square bales of hay that they can lay behind is sufficient to shield from winter winds. I build a large lean to for my geese and there was a man sized door, they wouldn’t go in.
