April 1st. setting.. *hatching*| need a buddy.

so far we've got 4 out, and no other pips yet =/ while i'm very excited about my 4, i'm starting to worry about all the others. sigh.

I have two pips and a rocker. One of the pips is working at it. Woohoo!

Cool! I'm so glad you guys are getting some pips, and chicks!

I took the last 4 out of the incubator and cracked them open. All died in various stages, one looks to have quit after lock down, the other 3 before then.

Out of the 16 marans eggs, only got 2 babies.

Mail man is supposed to be dropping off my other marans eggs today though, so they will be set tonight after they rest for a few hours. Hopefully I can finally get some of those dark egg layers!


Also, all my chicks are healthy and running around and eating and drinking. I'm so happy that I hatched along with you guys. THANKS for letting me participate!

Glad you got to Marans and more eggs today!

We have another chick! This one is a welsummer which was shipped, and the breed I really wanted! (Hoping it's a she!) I have at least two others pipped and one rolling around (alittle bit of movement). They look perfect!!! I am thrilled. Even if I got no more chicks, I'd consider this a successful hatch! Looks like at least 3 more. I have 11 eggs in there total, so I'm hoping for all of them to hatch, but I am sure that won't happen.

Today was my youngest son's 3rd birthday. So, we had company. This one egg has been half hatched (not open) for an hour now with my sister & a friend waiting patiently. I finally had to kick them out because I want this girl to hatch!

Not really, they had to go, but if you could see how much hatched this one is, you'd be amazed that it is still in it's shell. Perhaps it knows of the company (chick) it will have when she's finally out! I will be moving 2-3 of the chicks into the brooder tonight. I still have quite a few eggs to hatch. One has tiny pips and this one has quite a bit missing from it's shell..

Anyone else? I have 11 eggs in there and 2.5 are hatched. Yesterday was the due date. Oh, and I should say, this 3rd one that is hatching is marked as a dud by me, but changed later on with candling. So, just because it looks like a dud early, doesn't mean it is one!

My third is finally out!

Hopefully we'll get more, but all we have is a tiny pip that was there at 4 this morning. It hasn't changed.

I set 26 Marans eggs at 11pm tonight for my next hach in that incubator. My other incubator is has 7 dominique eggs, and a bunch of mutts. They are due May 5th.
