So who is going to lay first? To keep it fair lets limit this to April 2017 chicks, grand prize is the adulation of all participants. The contest is not just when you get your first egg, but the day ALL of your flock lays for the first time that will keep it going longer.
So I have 7 from the first week of April and I expect my brown leghorn or golden buff will be my first layers. I have to get my nest boxes built soon!

Ok, GO!

Gary

Hoping egg laying is the right forum?

I'll play, although mine will probably drag out. I have 2 from April 4th (a white leghorn and a EE) and 3 from April 14th (2 EEs and a SFH)

I have 7 from April 4, a white leghorn a brown leghorn a golden buff a barred rock a blue americauna a golden laced wyandotte and a easter egger.

Hahaha!!

So when first person who's last of their this years pullets lays.

Probably should go in the 'Contest Folly' forum ;)
oh, wait there isn't one. :D

Mine didn't hatch until 5-15, so I'm out.
Just wanted to pick on ya a bit Gary. Its all love with us:):hugs

No, the first day someones entire flock lays, like 7/7 for me.

I'm in, I have a amberlink, a white leghorn, and a isa brown that were hatched 4/12. The others, a buff orp, a white rock, and 2 Ees that were hatched at the very end of April. The Isa brown had an injury from a goose and is a slow grower. I reckon she'll be last of my pullets to lay.

Ha, there's no way. Hatch date was April 26/27. I'm not sure how many hens I'm going to end up with, but it could be upwards of 15. Dual purpose breeds - could be ages before I even see my first egg. And the Brahmas aren't known to be prolific layers.

:th

But I'll let you know if it ever happens!

Mine didn't hatch til may 14th and most of them are buckeyes which are known to take extra long to lady their first eggs so I'm out but I'd love to see pictures of everybody's first eggs
