April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

Anyone else have a broody hen out of the April 17 chicks? Fajita, my Cuckoo maran, has gone full broody. Belly feathers pulled out, won't leave box for 2 weeks. I keep running her off and she walks behind me pleading her case and right back on the eggs when I leave.

So thinking I should order some eggs and see what happens. Anyone else have a broody hen?

The OP has a broody and he got her some chicks. If yours has been broody 2 weeks already, you could get her some day old chicks and slip them in at night.....

Yes I do! She went broody a week ago, chicks arrived yesterday I put them under her last night.

One of my rocks went broody on me last week but I currently can't add to my flock at the moment because we are going to be moving so new additions are not possible til I know what our living arrangements will be so I had to break her broodiness by putting her and a dog kennel with food and water for a 3 days no more broody hen

LOL.

Reinforcements arrive a week from Monday! My 3 newbies plus 9 more to raise up for friends (and a meal maker but don’t tell my wife about my addition problem / chicken math).

PS: I know the waterer also isn’t in there, was just adjusting lamp height for temperature range.
