April 2021 Hatch - A - Long

We’re at 8 hatched so far! An interesting mix of colors too. Just 11 more to go.

This one was making good progress on zipping up until this point. Now it’s been a while since I’ve seen it move.
Does this egg look okay? There are some small cracks that have really spread out.

I took a risk, opened the incubator and grabbed the egg to start assisting. Chick was already dead though. Got so far too.

Ten more eggs remain, though one isn’t pipped yet.

So sorry. I wanted to advise you but I had them the same way. One ended up hatching and the other died in the egg. Sometimes it just don’t make sense.

I’ve got 6 or 7 out of 31 pipped right now. Day 20 just started less than an hour ago so I’m not worried right now. One acted like it was thinking about zipping but nothing else from the rest. I know it’s early so I’m trying not to worry.

Nice- I have LO/EE mix eggs, I want to set, the dad is white splash-I am hoping for some pretty lavender, would that be the 3rd row down.

This is BBS genetics, different from lavender genetics.

Is your splash the EE? Your lavender orp the hen?

Your lavender will act as black when crossed with anything but lavender. So if your EE is truly splash and following BBS genetics, then you will get blue chicks, that can vary in shade from very light, appearing almost like lavender to dark blue.

At least 12 pips now at 12 hours. Some chicks have enlarged the pip but it doesn’t appear that any have started to zip.
