April 2023 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Had my first pips yesterday evening. Figured no action until later. I was up at 2:30 with no zips visible but lots of good pips.

Woke up at 7 to rain and hail pounding on the metal roof, got up and was greeted with this little SDW OEGB peering at me through the dome.

Lack of eye shadow makes me think pullet. Good omen?

Lots of good pips remain. A few not showing any yet but today is day 20/21 later in the day so things could go through tomorrow.

A short time ago I was heading to the feed room to get starter and happened to look out of the window in time to see a wild hen turkey casually strolling through the yard in the rain.

Hope that is another good omen!

Happy hatching everyone!

The wrong end pip is hatched now; hatched on its own after about 24 hours. The one that pipped on the end of the egg managed to turn herself around and pipped again in the normal place, then hatched on her own! I have 12 out now, 1 zipping and 3 more pips! 2 of the pips are also on the wrong end but hopefully they will hatch just fine like the other one did.
how long has it been for the wrong end pip? They can take up to 48 hrs since it is like an internal and external pip in one. If you are worried you can make the pip hole a TINY bit bigger so you know air is getting in. I had one that pipped just about in the middle of the air cell and it zipped a bit diagonal and got out just fine. I was worried about it.
