April Babies Egg Watch Thread

Hatched April 6th and we FINALLY got our first egg! We're overjoyed! I'm 98% sure it's from our sweet black australorp lady.

At 22 wks + 1 day, I finally have a 2nd and 3rd layer!! But I'm not sure who...

The green is the same color as Peckerino's, but a much different shape. Other EEs are Autumn,

...and April,

...so it's one of them.

The tan-/pink-ish egg I *think* is Bubbles (aka Bubblicious), the Faverolles.

I don't think it's a dark enough brown to belong to one of the Buckeyes, and it may be a few weeks early for them, but if it was, the suspect would be Ruby.

Jasmine finally started laying.
It looks bluish in pictures but is a little greener in person (but not as dark as my olive eggs).

The first of my April (25th-ish) girls started laying this week. Such pretty little eggs from the legbar x cuckoo marans olive egger.

I was so eggcited Tuesday when I found the two 'new' eggs, that I forgot to check the bunny hutch:

And on Wednesday, there were 2 more from different girls:

My 2 cream legbars Mocha & Latte are laying beautiful blue Eggs!

I find in an interesting coincidence that their eggs almost match the color of the hutch...

So I have 5 layers out of 13 so far .

I am still waiting! And today, the one hen that was laying, went broody! ugh!

So pretty! I ordered Legbars this year & got Welbars instead. Maybe next year.

I guess when they're ready, they're READY !! Another new layer yesterday, a white egg ! I still have 1 EE that hasn't laid yet, but I'm betting on one of the two polish or 2 houdans. The most interested in the boxes is Peekaboo, a polish, but not certain. Yesterday's pullet eggs:

And I confirmed today that Bubbles is the brown/tan egg layer so far.
6 out of 13 now.

FavieBaby laid her first egg today! Hers is the pinkish one next to Bubblicious's much darker egg. (They're both Salmon Faverolles)

The blue is from Mocha or Latte, the Cream Legbars (the large white is from a little frizzle hen in another pen).

I did butt checks on the Easter hatch girls last night.

One is certainly laying, another is probably laying. The others are still freeloading, with the Olive Egger the tightest.

I have noticed that Nugget, said Olive Egger, is hanging out with the 15-week pullets more and more since her age-peers are joining the fringes of the laying-hen flock as they mature.
