Still waiting fingers crossed on the muscovy eggs. I got, if I remember right 11 chicks two of which were mine. So 9 itty bitty sussex chicks.

I hatched out 2 reddish colored chicks, one yellow and the rest were black. Of the black ones some had brown heads. So what did I get? My broody is taking care of them for me. I needed a break and I owed her because the extra roos that I just haven't found time to process kept messing with her while she was on the nest and I didn't seperate her so her eggs were down to just one and I don't even know if its good. My luck it will hatch and I will have one lonely chick to care for. She is a good mommy though. She was extremely annoyed with me because I tried to move her into the cage first and then I kept touching her but the minute I stuck the first baby under her she stopped squaking. lol.

I hatched out a yellow chick out of my green egg and a black one out of my brown egg so I am lost as to which two are mine. I have my suspicions on the yellow chick but the black one I guess its going to be a waiting game. It is at least part if not all jersey giant so hopefully I will be able to pick it out soon.

I really hope the muscovy eggs hatch. I haven't had luck with ducks though. I tried twice with welsh harlequins this year and only got 3 ducks. They both came from the same person. If I hadn't run out of money I would have tried for more. Are muscovys able to breed with other ducks? I am trying to keep my other breeds down. I made the mistake with chickens and refuse to make it with anything else. lol. I wanted muscovys but didn't originally want the size due to mess issues. However I think I will be building a waterfowl building since I am up to 10 geese and 3 ducks. They are being messy and the original geese are mean to everything. I had to laugh. One of my baby goslings tried to protect me from the mean gander. I turned around just in time to see it rushing at him, poor thing got bit for its effort though.

Does anyone know how to make goslings more accepting of other ducks, geese and chickens? I know its not gonna happen for the adults but I was hoping that maybe it isn't to late for them. I tried raising with a chicken but it was a size a serama and a lf mix and it quickly became apparent to me that it just wasn't sanitary for the chicks. I am going to post this in the goose forum when I get a chance but figured I would ask here first.

The black ones are either lav orps or lav orp/sussex the others are any mix of the sussex might even get a pure here or there.
