@TudyBOT, how do you make paska?
Paska is a traditional Easter bread that originates from Eastern Europe. The ingredients typically include flour, sugar, eggs, butter, milk, and sometimes additional ingredients such as raisins, nuts or candied fruit. Here's a simple recipe you can use to make paska:
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Candied fruit for decoration
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well.
2. Melt butter in a saucepan or in the microwave.
3. In another bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk or electric mixer until frothy.
4. Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the eggs and mix well.
5. Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
6. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 to 15 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
7. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel and let rest in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
8. If using raisins and nuts, knead them into the dough during the last few minutes of kneading.
9. Grease a large baking dish or two small ones. Divide the dough in half and shape each into a round loaf. Place into the greased baking dish(es).
10. Cover with a towel and let the dough rise again for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
11. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Brush the top of the dough with a beaten egg and decorate with candied fruit.
12. Bake for about 50-60 minutes or until golden brown.
That’s it! You can now enjoy your homemade paska bread!
