APRIL FOOLS HATCH, give or take a day.....who's in ??

I've got 3 cuckoo marans and 5 silver duckwing leghorns out soo far, and 12 eggs still pipping, zipping and doing nothing

one of my chicks is cross beaked

will get pictures tomorrow of them

Redreiner...WHO turned off the bator?? I know it must have been an accident but English Orp eggs are not cheap...sure hope they do ok!!!
Congrats on all the hatches going on everyone...my second pip has taken place...has worked on it since 5:45am but I think she will do fine. By the way..someone posted here (forget who) that they had hatched all pullets so far. How did you figure that out?? Did you break the cardinal rule and open the incubator while hatching was taking place...? Looked at the vents of the new chicks?? Just curious....

I have read on here lots of others with similiar stories so I am confident

they will all hatch... I tossed some clears early on and after the shut off on day 12 2 more blood rings. candled again about a week later and have 13 that are dark with air cells.

Good to hear that you think 13 survived. Those switch's are easy to flip...thinking it is for the lights...whatever. So "the" goof up was a simple mistake easy to do. All's well that ends well and hey...you got a clean car and truck and remodeled coop from it!")

Day 21 Hour 01

10 hatched so far, woohoo- blue, blue, a white and more blue...4 left are pipped, going to paint now- hopefully when I get back...

day 22 here, I believe I am done.

I think, don't know for sure , but, i think I have 35 chicks out of the 40 eggs I put in. 4 unhatched , and 1 died upon hatching.

Not bad for a first timer !!!

I came home from work to 5 more chicks, 2 pips and 1 that's rocking! So far I'm 6/11! This is a great April fools day!!!

Good job emjay...Day 21 here...I have one scampering around...1 that pipped at 6am and now has a hole in egg but no zip and one that just barely pipped this afternoon and has done nothing since. I have 8 in the bator. Rh was running about 60-62 so I just upped it a tad to 64...directions say 65 but I THOUGHT the RH would zoom during hatch but it never did. Must be our house is dry.
So I hope I get these 3...will see if tonight and tomorrow does anything. I'm just thankful I have 1!! I get more eggs next Thursday)

I don't go in lock down until tomorrow evening or Sunday morning. However, my wife played a really nasty joke on me this morning, she called me and said, "Two of the eggs in the incubator are cracked opened". All I could think was two had exploded as I knew it was too early for a hatch. When I got in there, she said, "April fools"! I was in a panic, because all I could think was the whole batch would be contaminated and I'd have to toss it. Notice I called her wife not DW as in Darling Wife? I was thinking something far removed from "Darling" about then.
