Im all hatched out. 6 eggs, 5 fertile, 3 hatched. I think one of the issues was humidity. We also had one of the three chicks with some sort of a belly issue. It is seperated from the other chicks and seems to be doing well, so we'll see what happens with it. One of the chicks that hatched out last night is a mystery chick. I got the eggs from a friend and I think one egg from another pen accidentally made its way into the bowl, it was kind of an odd sight. I expected the chick to be a silkie and out pops a bigger chick. Still a neat sight for a newbie like me to see for the first time.

Congrats! Hoping that you will awake from your needed nap to all the rest hatched. Yep, it must be the drama of not knowing that we all must enjoy, every hatch feels like that! What are Aussies? I'm so looking forward to seeing Dorking chick pics & the others.
Aussies, just a nickname for Australorps. Silly, ain't it?
I ended up having to help out 5, one had died, all had some significant level of shrink wrapping and overdrying going on. Can't believe on this drizzly, humid day that would be a problem! Maybe since Dorkings are from England they expect fog! I have one egg left unpipped but probably not alive because it's quiet and motionless. That's 8 out of 13 total eggs alive and hatched at the moment. Time for bed and no more obsessing! I left the incubator fogged up and in my steamy bathroom for the night hoping that last baby has a chance.
BTW, it looks like all the Aussies are hatched, 10 total, quick and easy, a day early, and they were incubated the exact same as the Dorkings, though separated for lockdown so I could have the Dorkings in my fancy Brinsea. Some help that was!!!!!
DAY 21!!!
First Chick on this hatch is out .....a little black one.....Hurray!
ETA:
DH hollered there is chicks out, and I thought he was talking about chicks loose from the March 5th Hatch, so I go to chase them down, and it chirps from the incubator....lol
Aww... I love cute little hatched chickies and duckies!!! AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Here is Peck. She's sitting on 8 silkie eggs after she decided, against my insistance she not, to grow broody! The eggs are from both my black and white silkies, but I only have a white roo... so we'll see what happens. She's hatched at least 4 times before this. We've just run into problems previously, bad hatches, bad eggs, too hot, too cold.... our hatches are never better then 50%. So cross your fingers. I WAS holding out to try an incubator on my eggs this month. I'm hoping for a better % of hatch then I've had! Oh well!
